Orphaned youth are continually exposed to abuse and exploitation; physical abuse, defilement, sexual exploitation, child labor, and early marriages, while more flock to the streets to fend for themselves. This situation diminishes their capacity to participate in matters affecting their lives. Indeed, child abuse cases have become a common feature in many African countries, with only a small percentage of these incidents reported to the relevant authorities.
Additionally, widows and other underserved individuals are often overlooked. Few programs prioritize the immediate needs of the growing number of widows within Africa and the United States. The general population does not understand the dire needs of many widows.
As part of an effort to improve the life outcomes of orphans, widows, and all underserved individuals, Nadine Kabore founded Mercy Rain. Within Africa and the United States, Mercy Rain works to provide support and resources to impoverished and underserved communities with a chief focus on bringing abandoned, abused, and orphaned children to safety in a progressive, loving, and self-sustaining environment. Operations have begun in Burkina Faso, Africa, and will expand throughout the continent and South Florida. Mercy Rain will ensure that all children have access to high-quality education, empower communities through volunteering and mentorship, and supply all people in need with basic living necessities.
With twenty years of experience as a registered nurse and impactful experiences serving the homeless population in Miami, Florida, Nadine Kabore has a strong passion for serving. Along with Mercy Rain's board members, Patricia Montero and Myriam Kone Ouedaogo, she will work tirelessly to promote giving and sharing. All stakeholders of Mercy Rain recognize the internal wellness that can occur when serving unselfishly and doing so onto others as you will have them do unto you.
